November 2007 Row-a-thon
On Saturday, November 17th on the plaza in front of the New Canaan Playhouse, New Canaan High School Crew will hold its 4th annual Row-a-thon. The 8:30-11:30 am event is being run by the Senior rowers and will involve rowing demonstrations and competitive team events. All high school rowers should be out soliciting sponsorships to raise money for a Senior gift for the program.
Four years ago the Senior rowers started a tradition of raising money so that they can donate a gift of their choice to the program. Captain Sam Freedgood explains: “This is an opportunity for the seniors to give back to New Canaan High School rowing program. This program has given so much to us.” Captain Jim Kahmann added, “We look forward to having everyone come out, learn about rowing, cheer for the competitors as they row head to head and to support our Senior gift. We want to leave a meaningful legacy.”
Parents and rowers, we need your help! Please sign up sponsors for this important event - grandparents, aunts & uncles, close friends, neighbors and companies where we all work. (Many companies have funds set aside for community charitable events and for goodwill.)
Sponsorship forms should be handed into the captains at the Fall Banquet next Monday, November 12. Sponsors donating $250 or more will be recognized in the Row-a-thon program being handed out at the event. Corporate sponsors donating $500 or more can have their logo added to the list of corporate sponsors. The deadline for having names added to the program is Monday night, November 12. Additional sponsorships and donations will be accepted at any time. They can be given to any senior or mailed to Michael Sweeney, Treasurer of NCHS Crew.
